This month, we’re excited to spotlight our own Chief Product Officer, Dana Ritter, as Unique AI’s Monthly Uniquee.
In this interview, we sit down with Dana Ritter, whose career spans building consumer AI products at Google and now leading AI-first innovation for global financial institutions at Unique AI. He shares what drew him to Unique, how agentic AI is transforming complex financial workflows like KYC and source-of-wealth, and how he’s shaping the next generation of secure, scalable AI products purpose-built for the future of finance.
Why did you join Unique AI?
Before joining Unique, I was the Lead Product Manager for Gemini on Android at Google and co-authored the patent for the agentic web. While Google is undeniably an amazing company building incredible foundational technology, I realized that the true, transformative value of AI is waiting to be unlocked in highly specialized verticals.
I joined Unique because the opportunity to bridge my experience in agentic AI with my roots in wealth management to redefine how financial institution drive value with technology (AI specifically). I was also deeply drawn to the opportunity to join a startup at its very early stages and be a core part of its growth story.
How would you describe your role at Unique AI?
As Chief Product Officer, my role is to bridge the gap between cutting-edge Agentic AI engineering and the rigorous regulatory realities of Tier-1 financial institutions. My responsibilities fall into three main areas:
- Guiding the Roadmap: I lead the strategic direction for our Modular Platform, ensuring our AI Frontend, Custom Agents Toolkit, and APIs seamlessly integrate into our clients' existing and heavily regulated tech stacks.
- Creating Vertically Aligned Products: My focus is on creating deep vertically aligned AI-driven products to provide value and drive efficiency in critical enterprise finance use cases.
- Designing Delightful Experiences: A massive part of my job is designing delightful projects to be used by our users in the banking industry. This is something I bring from Google to an industry that often neglects design and the end user experience.
- Evangelizing the Vision: I work directly with the global banks, hedge funds, and insurance companies currently in our community to align our product evolution with their strategic needs. This is not just about compliance and operations; it is about building products on the newest AI technologies to help companies grow revenues, increase efficiency, find alpha, and stay compliant.
What is your current focus and how does it impact Unique AI clients?
The Focus & Client Impact: My immediate focus spans three critical areas that directly drive value for our clients:
- Isolated Agentic Harnesses: We are building the capability for institutions to leverage any agentic harness in isolation. This empowers banks to harness the power of specialized skills and code execution intelligence securely, including full support for on-premise deployments to meet the strictest data residency requirements.
- KYC & Source of Wealth (SoW): We are hyper-focused on revolutionizing the KYC SoW process. By automating complex entity resolutions and narrative generation, our goal is to drastically improve first-time approval rates by compliance teams, turning weeks of manual detective work into minutes.
- The MCP Hub as an Integration Platform: We are scaling the MCP Hub to act as the ultimate integration backbone. This surfaces any AI capability, legacy system, or custom tool to any AI frontend, providing our clients with unparalleled flexibility and eliminating vendor lock-in.
What do you like about working at Unique AI?
I like the open, transparent, and collaborative interaction of a young startup. I like the speed of adopting new technologies and the velocity of our execution. It is incredibly rare to see a startup move this fast within the highly regulated financial sector.
In just 6 months, we built a KYC community of over 13 top-tier global banks. I love that we are solving the 'Cold-Start' Trust Problem together. Seeing our technology transition from a whiteboard concept into an active intelligence layer that supercharges the workforce of the world's leading financial institutions is simply the most rewarding work of my career.
